Frequently Asked Questions

How is the hazard level calculated?

Each biome receives a 1-5 hazard score weighted across five dimensions: predator density, environmental danger, oxygen/crush risk, visibility, and escape item availability. The composite score and color coding (green/lime/yellow/orange/red) combine to show overall threat level. Click any biome card to see the radar breakdown.

Why are some biomes safer at night?

Many aggressive predators like Stalkers and Bonesharks are less active during Subnautica 2's night cycle, while passive species become more visible. Dark conditions do reduce visibility, so the best dive time balances predator dormancy with environmental clarity. Check the "Best Dive Time" on each biome card for community recommendations.

Which biomes require a Radiation Suit?

The Crash Zone (around the Aurora) and any biome touching the Aurora's radiation leak requires a Radiation Suit. Lost River also benefits from one due to ambient sulfur. Inactive Lava Zone proximity may also expose players to ambient heat, requiring a PRAWN Thermal Module rather than a Radiation Suit.

Can I export my personal notes?

Personal biome notes are saved in your browser's localStorage under the sn2_biome_notes key. Use your browser's profile sync, or open DevTools → Application → Local Storage to copy the JSON payload and re-paste on another device. Notes persist across sessions unless you clear site data.
