Foundation
The Foundation is the core structural platform in Subnautica 2, providing a stable base that adds hull integrity and anchors corridors, rooms, and other base modules.
Quick Info
Description
The Foundation is the bedrock of every seabase in Subnautica 2. Placed on the seafloor, it creates a flat, stable platform that you can build corridors and rooms on top of. Each Foundation contributes +1 to your base's hull integrity, helping your base resist the crushing pressure of the deep. Without a solid Foundation, your structures take on water and eventually leak or collapse.
How to Craft
Foundations are built with the Habitat Builder using basic Titanium. Equip the Habitat Builder, select the Foundation from the base parts menu, and aim at a flat patch of seafloor to place it.

What it Does
The Foundation provides a stable building platform and a small but meaningful hull integrity boost. It is the first piece of almost every base layout.
Base Platform
Creates a flat surface on the seafloor for stacking structures.
Hull Integrity +1
Adds positive integrity to help resist depth pressure.
Anchor Point
Lets you snap corridors, rooms, and upgrades onto it.
Base Integration
The Foundation connects to other base parts to form a functional seabase. Here's how it fits into the larger build.
Corridor
Snap corridors onto the Foundation to connect rooms and extend your base outward.
Primary connectorMultipurpose Room
Place a Multipurpose Room on the Foundation for your main interior space.
Core build moduleSolar Panel
Mount Solar Panels on or near the Foundation to power your base.

Map Locations
Foundations can be placed on any flat seafloor. Look for level terrain in shallow biomes to start your base, then expand into deeper waters as you reinforce your hull integrity.

What does a Foundation do in Subnautica 2?
A Foundation serves as the stable platform you build your seabase on, adding +1 hull integrity and letting you attach corridors and rooms. It's the recommended first piece of almost every base layout.
How much Titanium does a Foundation cost?
Each Foundation costs 2x Titanium, crafted with the Habitat Builder. Titanium is easy to farm from limestone outcrops, so Foundations stay affordable even in the early game.
Do I need a Foundation to build a base?
A Foundation is the recommended starting point. It boosts hull integrity and gives corridors and rooms a stable anchor point. While some modules can attach to other modules, starting with a Foundation keeps your base stable and leak-free.
