Habitat Builder
The Habitat Builder lets you construct and deconstruct base modules underwater and on land.
Quick Info
How to Craft
The Habitat Builder is a Tier 2 tool crafted at the Fabricator. It requires Titanium for the housing, Copper for the battery, and Silicone for components. Ensure you have a Survival Knife to harvest the necessary raw materials before attempting this craft.
Materials Needed
- 2x Titanium
- 1x Copper
- 1x Silicone
Titanium and Copper come from Limestone Outcrops. Silicone is refined from Quartz at the Fabricator.
Crafted At
Fabricator
Open the Fabricator in your lifepod and navigate to Tools › Habitat Builder. The Copper is used to craft an internal Battery for the device.
What it Does
The Habitat Builder is the gateway to base building in Subnautica 2. Equip it to enter build mode, where you can place foundations, rooms, corridors, hatches, and reinforcement modules. It also deconstructs any module you have placed, refunding a portion of its materials. A power source is required for your base to function once built.
Construct Bases
Place foundations, rooms, corridors, hatches, and Reinforced Walls underwater or on land.
Deconstruct Modules
Tear down any base module you built to reclaim a portion of its materials.
Manage Hull Integrity
Place foundations and reinforcements to keep your base from flooding under pressure.
Upgrades
The Habitat Builder itself is not upgraded, but it unlocks access to increasingly advanced base modules as you scan new technology. From basic rooms to multipurpose modules and reinforced structures, your building options expand alongside your research.
Multipurpose Room
Large modular room unlocked by scanning fragments in deeper wrecks.
Reinforced Foundations
Boost hull integrity for deeper and larger base constructions.

Map Locations
The materials for the Habitat Builder are all found in shallow waters. Limestone Outcrops yield Titanium and Copper, while Quartz deposits are scattered on the seafloor. Use the interactive map to find the best gathering spots near your lifepod.

Frequently Asked Questions
How to get the Habitat Builder?
Craft it at the Fabricator using 2x Titanium, 1x Copper, and 1x Silicone. You will need a Survival Knife to harvest the raw materials. The Copper is used to craft an internal Battery that powers the device. This is a Tier 2 tool, so prioritize gathering materials after your basic survival tools are in place.
Can I deconstruct bases?
Yes. Equip the Habitat Builder and aim at any base module you have placed. A deconstruct prompt will appear. Confirming it tears down the module and refunds a portion of the materials used, making it easy to iterate on your base design without wasting resources.
What do I need to build a base?
At minimum you need the Habitat Builder, a Foundation, and a Basic Room or Corridor with a Hatch for entry. You will also need a power source such as a Solar Panel to keep the base operational. Start with Titanium-heavy modules and add power and reinforcements as your base grows.
