Frequently Asked Questions

Does this tool modify my real save files?

No. The Save Editor is a planning and educational UI that mirrors the structure of an in-game save. All data is stored in your browser's localStorage only. It does not read, write, or patch the actual .save binary on disk.

How do I back up my real Subnautica 2 saves?

Copy the contents of your saves folder to a safe location before launching any editor or mod. See the Save Management Guide for platform-specific paths (Steam, Xbox, Game Pass).

Can I share my save plan with another player?

Yes. Use Export JSON to download your plan, send the file to a friend, then have them use Import JSON to load the same configuration into their browser.

Found an issue with this tool?

Wrong biome depth, missing vehicle, or a UI bug — let us know and we'll verify against the latest patch.
