4546B is a beautiful planet, but it can be deadly. One wrong move and you are fish food. These survival tips will help you stay alive longer.
Some of these might seem obvious, but every single one of them is learned the hard way by players who did not know.
Tips 1-5: Basic Survival
1. Always Watch Your Oxygen
This is the number one killer of new players. Always know how much air you have left. Start heading back with at least 20 seconds remaining.
2. Carry an Extra Air Tank
An extra tank in your inventory doubles your dive time. Always have one before leaving the shallows.
3. Know Your Exit
Before you enter a cave or wreck, make sure you know how to get out. It is easy to get disoriented underwater.
4. Place Beacons Everywhere
Beacons at your base, at cave entrances, at interesting locations. You will get lost otherwise.
5. Do Not Fight Everything
Most creatures are better avoided than fought. Save your health and your tools.
Tips 6-10: Exploration Safety
6. Explore the Edge of New Biomes First
Do not charge into the deep end. Skirt along the edges first, get a feel for the place, then go deeper.
7. Always Bring a Flashlight
Dark areas are dangerous. You need to see what is around you. A Seaglide with a light counts.
8. Use Natural Shelters
If you are being chased by a predator, hide in a small cave or behind rocks. Most cannot follow you into tight spaces.
9. Save Before Exploring Dangerous Areas
About to go into the Lost River? Save first. Nothing worse than losing an hour of progress to a surprise attack.
10. Know Your Predators
Learn what each dangerous creature looks like, how it behaves, and how to avoid it. Knowledge is safety.
Tips 11-15: Advanced Survival
11. Build Outposts
Small bases in distant biomes give you a safe place to rest, recharge, and store loot. You do not have to do everything from your main base.
12. Carry Emergency Supplies
Keep a small emergency kit: first aid kit, water, food, extra power cell. You never know when you will need them.
13. Use the Scanner Room
Know what is around you before you go exploring. Scan for predators and resources before venturing out.
14. Do Not Panic
The number one cause of death is panic. When things go wrong, stop, think, and act deliberately. Panic leads to bad decisions.
15. Learn From Deaths
You will die. That is okay. Every death teaches you something. Next time, you will know better.
How to Deal With Predators
Stalkers
Not usually dangerous, but they can be annoying. Swim away or use a repulsion cannon. They like to steal metal too.
Sandsharks
They burrow and ambush. Keep moving and watch the sand. Easy to avoid if you are paying attention.
Bonesharks
Aggressive and fast. Best avoided. If attacked, swim toward the surface or into a safe area.
Ampeels
Electric eel-like creatures. Do not get close. Their shock hurts a lot.
Leviathans
Just run. Do not fight. You cannot win. Swim away as fast as you can.
Emergency Procedures
If you find yourself in a bad situation:
- Stay calm. Panic makes everything worse.
- Assess the situation. What is the problem? Low oxygen? Predator? Lost?
- Pick the nearest safe spot. Surface, your Seamoth, a cave, anything.
- Move deliberately. Do not flail around. Swim with purpose.
- Use consumables if needed. First aid, water, whatever you have.
