Updated 2026-08-06 - 12 min read

Your Personal Mech

The Prawn Suit (Pressure Reactive Waterproof Nanosuit) is a walking tank that lets you go deeper, fight harder, and mine faster. It is one of the most powerful tools in the game.

This guide covers unlocking, building, upgrading, and mastering the Prawn Suit.

How to Unlock and Build

You unlock the Prawn Suit by scanning fragments in the Aurora wreck or deep wrecks.

Fragment Locations

  • Aurora wreckage (various sections)
  • Deep Grand Reef wrecks
  • Lost River facilities

Need 4 fragments to unlock the full blueprint.

Materials to Build

  • Plasteel Ingot x2
  • Power Cell x2
  • Enameled Glass x1
  • Aluminum Oxide x1

Built using the Mobile Vehicle Bay or a Moonpool upgrade console.

How to Use the Prawn Suit

Controlling the Prawn Suit is different from the Seamoth.

  • WASD: Walk around
  • Space: Jump (with jump upgrade, very high)
  • Left Click: Left arm tool (default: drill)
  • Right Click: Right arm tool (default: punch)
  • Shift: Sprint (if upgraded)

Key Features

  • Walk on the seabed
  • Very high damage resistance
  • Two modular arm slots
  • Can go very deep with upgrades
  • Built-in storage

Depth and Armor

The Prawn Suit is built for deep diving and heavy combat.

ModuleMax Depth
Standard900m
MK1 Depth Module1300m
MK2 Depth Module1700m

The Prawn Suit is also heavily armored. It can take way more damage than the Seamoth and even survive leviathan attacks that would destroy smaller vehicles.

Arm Upgrades

You can customize both arms of the Prawn Suit with different tools.

Left Arm Options

  • Drill Arm: Mine large resource deposits. Standard left arm.
  • Grappling Arm: Pull yourself around, pull items to you, pull enemies close.

Right Arm Options

  • Punch: Default. High damage melee attacks.
  • Propulsion Cannon Arm: Push and pull objects (and creatures).
  • Torpedo Arm: Fire various torpedoes.

The most popular combo is Drill Arm (left) + Grappling Arm (right) for mining and mobility.

Other Upgrades

  • Jump Jet Upgrade: Massively increases jump height. Essential for navigation. You will wonder how you lived without it.
  • Storage Upgrade: More inventory space in the suit.
  • Hull Reinforcement: Even more damage resistance.
  • Thermal Reactor: Recharges in hot areas. Near lava, you basically never run out of power.
  • Speed Upgrade: Walk faster.

Best Uses for the Prawn Suit

  1. Mining large deposits. The drill arm lets you harvest massive amounts of resources quickly.
  2. Deep exploration. It goes deeper than the Seamoth and can take more punishment.
  3. Fighting big creatures. The Prawn Suit can go toe-to-toe with most predators.
  4. Thermal vent areas. With the thermal reactor upgrade, it never runs out of power near heat.

Pro Tips

  • Get the jump jet upgrade immediately. It transforms the Prawn Suit from slow walker to agile explorer.
  • Use the grappling arm for mobility. You can grapple to walls and pull yourself around caves.
  • Always have a way out. The Prawn Suit is slow on flat ground. Do not get cornered.
  • Bring spare power cells. Especially if you do not have the thermal upgrade yet.
  • It can fall. If you walk off a cliff, you will take fall damage. Use the jump jets to soften landings.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Prawn Suit is primarily for deep exploration and mining large resource deposits. It is also very effective in combat against large creatures.

Find 4 Prawn Suit fragments (usually in the Aurora or deep wrecks) to unlock the blueprint, then build it with a Mobile Vehicle Bay.

Base depth is 900m. With MK2 depth module, it can go to 1700m - deep enough for the lava zones.

They are different tools for different jobs. Seamoth is fast and great for exploration. Prawn is slow but tough and great for mining and deep diving.
