What it Does
The Survival Knife is the cornerstone of your early-game toolkit. It cuts through creepvines and kelp, harvests seeds and plant samples, breaks open resource deposits, and provides a basic defense against smaller hostile fauna. Nearly every exploration loop relies on it at some point.
Harvest Plants
Cut creepvines, kelp, and coral to gather seeds and plant samples for farming.
Break Deposits
Chip away at resource outcrops when you lack a dedicated mining tool.
Basic Defense
Fend off small predators like Bleeders and Stalkers in close encounters.
Upgrades
The Survival Knife sits at the base of an upgrade tree. As you progress and scan more technology, you can craft progressively stronger blades at the Fabricator or Modification Station.
Hardened Blade
Increased damage and durability over the base knife.
Thermoblade
Heated edge that deals significantly more damage and never dulls.
