Fins
Swim 15% faster. Essential for early exploration before vehicles become available.
Quick Info
How to Craft
Fins are crafted at the Fabricator using Silicone and Titanium. They have no prerequisites, making them one of the first equipment pieces you can craft. Silicone is refined from Quartz, and Titanium is harvested from Limestone Outcrops — both found in the shallows near your lifepod.
Materials Needed
- 1x Silicone
- 1x Titanium
Silicone requires 1x Quartz. Titanium comes from Limestone Outcrops in the shallows.
Crafted At
Fabricator
Open the Fabricator in your lifepod and navigate to Equipment › Fins. Equip them from your inventory to activate the speed bonus.
What it Does
Fins are a wearable equipment item that increases your swim speed by 15%. This might sound modest, but it significantly reduces the time and oxygen spent traveling between your lifepod and resource nodes. Before you have access to the Seaglide or vehicles, fins are the single most impactful mobility upgrade available.
+15% Swim Speed
A consistent passive speed boost applied whenever the fins are equipped.
Oxygen Efficiency
Faster swimming means less oxygen consumed per trip, extending your effective range.
Evasion
Improved mobility helps you outswim small predators in the shallows and kelp forest.
Upgrades
Fins can be upgraded into specialized variants that offer additional benefits beyond raw speed. These upgrades are crafted at the Modification Station once you have unlocked the required blueprints.
Swim Charge Fins
Generate power for your held tool while swimming at increased speed.
Ultra Glide Fins
Maximum swim speed boost for fast traversal without a vehicle.

Map Locations
Both materials for Fins are found in the shallow waters near your lifepod. Quartz deposits sit on the seafloor and in small caves, while Limestone Outcrops yielding Titanium are scattered everywhere in the shallows. Use the interactive map to plot a quick gathering loop.

Frequently Asked Questions
How to craft fins?
Craft fins at the Fabricator using 1x Silicone and 1x Titanium. There are no prerequisites, so you can craft them immediately after gathering the materials. Silicone is refined from Quartz at the Fabricator, and Titanium is obtained from Limestone Outcrops in the shallows.
Do fins stack with Seaglide?
No, the Seaglide overrides fin speed when active. Once you obtain a Seaglide, fins are no longer needed for raw speed. However, fins remain useful as a backup when your Seaglide runs out of power, and upgraded fins like Swim Charge Fins offer unique benefits the Seaglide does not.
Can I upgrade fins?
Yes. Fins can be upgraded at the Modification Station into Swim Charge Fins, which generate power for your held tool while swimming, and Ultra Glide Fins, which provide a maximum speed boost. These upgrades require additional materials and scanned blueprints to unlock.
